Napoleonic ERA

On Saturday I went to the Getty and saw the Jacques-Louis David: Empire to Exile exhibit. The first time there had EVER been a David exhibit in the US. Can you believe that?

Do you ever somehow just kind of find yourself transfixing on one period in time? I've never been all that into the Napoleonic Era, but all of a sudden, It's creeping into my pop culture choices. In the past month, besides viewing this exhibit, I'm reading Stendhal's Le Rouge et Le Noir (a bit post Napoleon, I'll grant...)and I've watched the whole Sharpe series and viewed Vanity Fair again. Just a strange convergence.

It’s the tight pants that people get fixated on in the Napoleonic era

Actually, there was another portrait of Bony in the exhibit and it was flat out obvious that they were exaggerating his height...unfortunately, they did nothing to change his looks.
