Ruling Reversal

So as you will recall, I had a good belly laugh about the first issue of Men's Vogue. I didn't think it was going to fly...but now, well, let's just say I'm man enough to admit...those crazy kids just might be on to something. I was particularly taken by the penultimate issue with Sir Hugh Jackman on the cover.
Playboy may claim to be all about the articles, but this magazine really is. Flip inside and you've got a piece on Peter Beard's new book from Taschen, for example. And nary a female covermodel in sight...so far. In this Maximized world, that's an impressive editorial direction that really sets them apart. Well played.

I prefer men's Playgirl better.

Is this seriously for men? I have to Google now to see if it's real. ^_^

Love your blog, though I must take issue with your views on Daniel Craig's tatt. Well, OK, it IS an odd choice, but I've seen far worse. Mostly, though, he's hot enough that I can overlook it. ^_^

Men aren't going to buy this mag. The men's magazine industry is already over saturated. It's not going to displace any GQ, Details, nor Esquire readers. As it is with my GQ and Details, I already feel TOO over informed on readings, grooming, and finding that perfect suit. Guys need a little bit of dirt in their writing and I think that is especially where this magazine will fail. And for the record, Playboy is STILL the best place for real articles directed towards men. Just wish I could convince my gf of that. :)
