Yeah, He Did.

My dad is convinced that Santino designed this outfit for Olympian Johnny Weir when his uncooked turkey on ice ensemble failed to impress Sasha Cohen in the challenge on Project Runway.

I am torn, because although at first glimpse it looks right up Santino's alley, I think more than likely Peter Pan was just trying to break out of his design mold.

H&M HOLLA!!!!!

H&M to Open Hollywood Store

Finally, after what has it been, 5 years since I first stepped into H & M (in either France or Germany, I can't recall), the powers that be deign to open one in LA.

Actually the last H & M I was in in London gave me a roaring headache, but I went at 5 pm on a Friday, so I acknowledge it was probably my fault.

Still...I freaking hate Hollywood & Highland...couldn't they put it at the Beverly Center or Third Street Promenade? I guess I hate those places too.

I really wish that they'd put a Zara closer to me.

Passing the Torch

Not only has OKGO attained a place in the man-dance pantheon with their video for their new single A Million Ways, In my opinion, they've knocked Christopher Walken in Weapon of Choice down to #3. Can they challenge Yatta's hegemony in this newly emerging genre?

Let's put it to a vote!

Who are the best man-dancers?
Yatta!
OKgo
Christopher Walken in Weapon of Choice
Someone else entirely.

Google has been hosting the first episode of Season 3 of Footballers' Wive$ since Valentine's Day at video.google.com/bbc. I just finished watching it, and all I have to say is I welcome the addition of Bollywood stars and Chinese Triads; Chardonnay will be missed and let's get Frank out of the picture as soon as we can.

That Explains Everything: The Material Hernia

We're all greatful that cool heads prevailed amongst the producers of the recent Grammy show, and Madonna was chosen over Mariah to open the festivities. Firstly, because it was a fabulous performance, as you can see here, and secondly, because anything that makes Mariah have a fit is fine by me.

Madge is apparently in recovery from a hernia that was operated on right after her performance in the Grammys. What does concern me is the nigh-unto-Cheney like delay in reportage concerning the story. A Google search shows that the hernia story was first reported yesterday by some crappy Irish online news outlet. Hello, the Grammy's happened...well, like a long time ago. Maybe it was a week, but it feels like a year.

Clearly, when having to deal with something as old-fartish and unsexy as a hernia in front of a TV audience of millions, the best policy, as the mystical wisdom of the Kabbalah teaches, is to hide in plain view. No wonder she had the wardrobe trifecta of sexy yet sensible support hose, firm yet flexible lycra leotard and body brace disgused as supple corset in full effect! There was nothing on earth that was going to keep her from showing those producers they'd backed the right filly. Do it up, Madge! Do it up!

Where Mangoes Come From...

Did you know that Jennifer Coolidge and Chris Kattan were lovers? Well, according to IMDB they were.

Her new article in Esquire entitled "10 Things You Don't Know About Women," includes this morsel: A man's ability to haggle is never a turn on. Don't I know it!

No way, José!

I have to say, I don't care what "as-yet unapproved by the FDA" health benefits might be had by taking Garlique once a day. I don't even care if you swear up and down that "GARLIQUE has none of the unsocial qualities associated with fresh garlic cloves." Odorless, tasteless and easy to digest? I'll take your word for it.

As Dana Carvey would say when impersonating Papa Bush, "Not gonna do it!"

One Week Away and I Can Hardly Stand It!

Cheers, Darling! The third season of Footballers' Wive$ is about to descend upon us, just in bloody time. Even though I already know who killed Jase, I'm a little disraught that Chardonnay and her divine theme parties will no longer be with us. I can only hope that the third season will manage to engage as much as the first, and I hope Frank dies pretty quickly, because he grosses me out.

I find it pretty amazing that Chardonnay's poitrine healed well enough to be so clearly displayed in this cast photo, btw.

FW will valiantly try to fill the gaping hole left in me by the all but definite canceling of Arrested Development. But let's face it, I yearn for older days when the universe was big enough for both of them. Gangey could have taught Tanya a thing or two about shoveling coal!

Who are we kidding, even if this season is absolutely awful, I have to make it through to Season 5, now showing in the UK when JOAN COLLINS joins the cast!

I know I've got game, just not sure which one...

This article caught my eye. I guess this goes under the heading of one day when I have money, maybe I can figure out why I always seem to put my feet just to the right of the stringer when I drop in.

Fractious Fractals

More proof that I'm a total geek-faced nerd. I just love the thought that what we do leaves a signature that may be imperceptible to the human eye. Even though I will admit that geometric analysis is probably not in keeping with the artistic spirit.

Lover Come Back!

Liza with a Z

Ok, so it's taken me a week to gather my thoughts about this most stupendous of episodes of your favorite show and mine...the one that Mr. Lipton hosts. The highlight for me was when Miss Liza sang AND SIGNED Aznavour's "Quiet Love". It may have brought Mr. Lipton to tears for the first time in the hallowed history of the show, but it left me marveling at how outright deranged Ms. Minnelli is. And I find that to be delicious! Once upon a time, she was a fascinating stylist. Now, well, let's just say that maybe I am pre-disposed to stare anyway, but the material she gives me to work with isn't helping.

The Inside the Actors Studio Personality Profile Game was a lovely little find that I encountered whilst perusing the bravo site. Guess which former guest I am? I whole hartedly disagree.

Christian Dior Spring 2006 Couture: Runway Review

We all know Galliano as an outlandish, nigh on to histrionic couturier, but I gotta ask who the target demographic was on this confection. What do we even name it? Pope Goth? Or maybe he just thinks this is how all Republicans dress. Or if Elizabeth I was Catholic?

I can just imagine the fury of Santino upon first viewing this design: "That piratically thieving scamp!"

The man behind Abercrombie & Fitch

This guy is so hella creepy looking, especially when you consider he's 61. He looks like the practice dummy that Jocelyn Wildenstein's surgeon used before putting her under the knife for the first time.

This article is a fascinating peek into the creation of a brand identity that still amazingly has steam. PS...why doesn't he just come out of the closet? When you read his backstory, it totally fits. The whole A&F aesthetic is based on wanting to belong with the cool kids....which in his case meant straight guys that knew how to play sports. "Nobody knows anything about his private life"...that's because if he was actually out of the closet it would ruin the demographic for the brand.

Congratulations to Mr. Pamuk

I just got a Google Alert that the charge of violating Turkey's Penal Code section 301 has been dropped against Mr. Pamuk. I am very happy for him, but saddened that the case was even allowed to be heard. They also need to reprieve the other writers that are less known, but still being charged under that law. If Turkey wants to join the EU, stuff like this cannot happen.

I just began reading Mr. Pamuk's work when I was in London this past October, on my morning subway commute. His voice is one of the more original that I have recently encountered in literature, so much so that I hastily went on to My Name is Red after I read Snow. Imprisioning this man would have made Turkey the laughing stock of the International Community. Especially when all he did was mention that no one talks about the Armenians and Kurds that the Ottomans killed.

Report from our Far-Flung Correspondent

GOB Bluth need have no fear...if times got really tough and no one in Vegas would hire him to perform magic. Apparently the Segway is the vehicle of choice for mall cops at one of the Las Vegas outlets.

The Final Countdown

So after an agonizing hiatus for us obsessives, Project Runway will return for a second season on December 7.

Why is that one guy Daniel back? He's so annoying. Jay was in the teaser on the site, but I hope that Austin gets to make an appearance too.

I can't get "Ring of Fire" out of my head...

If you haven't seen this movie, go see it. It's the first movie I've been dying to see in a long time, and I wasn't disappointed.

A new kink in the Seacrest-Cooper tie imbroglio....

This explains everything! Anderson Cooper recently recommended his mother Gloria Vanderbilt's memoir It Seemed Important at the Time to readers of O Magazine, not because Gloria needs the money, but because of the juicy tidbits about his mom's dating life.

Quoth he: "I always thought the worst thing in the world would be to hear your parents talk about their sex lives. It turns out, the worst is learning that your parents' sex lives were more interesting than your own."

He muses at even greater length on the same topic in this Details article. Believe me, the quote about Nijinsky was more of a mental picture than even I wanted.

So he's flirting with Seacrest to spice up his love life, because he's in competition with his mom. That makes total sense.

Come on Anderson, Ryan Seacrest is so 2003

Just because it worked for Nancy Regan doesn't mean it'll work for everyone else.

The Thai Prime Minister refuses to talk to the press because Mercury is in Retrograde

Happy 60th Goldie!

One thing I will say about this gal, she sure knows how to commit...wether it's to a haircut or a man, she's pretty consistent.

My top 3 Goldie Hawn movies:

3. Housesitter, even though Steve Martin's in it.
2. Private Benjamin, because every girl wants to marry a French gynecologist.
1. Foul Play, because I defy you to find a funnier movie (outside of Wedding Crashers).

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there....

Ok, well of course you know this means I have to confess that I was actually watching Ryan Seacrest....interviewing Nicole Richie....on CNN when this PHENOMENAL exchange occurred between the Ryster and Anderson Cooper .....

Cooper: That’s the biggest tie I’ve ever seen, by the way.

Seacrest: Yeah, you know, I don’t know. It’s bigger than my head, isn’t it?

Cooper: No, it works, it works for you. It just, you know, I just noticed it….

Seacrest: Look at the size of your… your bow’s tiny, mine’s huge.

Cooper: I’ve heard that often.

Then it was quoted on Gawker and I knew that millions of other Americans were caught in their own vacuum of shame, also known as it's 7pm and I've already seen the Law & Order rerun that's on and The Biggest Loser doesn't start until 8pm.

PS Will you people out there stop giving Ryan Seacrest more jobs! We don't need to encourage him.

CUT&PASTE DESIGN COMPETITION

Another reason I hate New York. I'm dying to go to this. It reminds me of this gameshow they have in England for painters...I think it's called A Brush with Fame or something.

Santa Monica Art Auction

Ever since I went to the affordable art fair in London (and didn't go to Frieze...not that' I'm bummed...I ain't no Gwyneth mimic) I'm diggin' this new world. Never mind that I probably couldn't even afford the catalogue if I went, let alone an actual work. But these are also by much more established artists....Calder, HOCKNEY,Ruscha, Stella...whathave you. Wanna come?

Ford on Koons

I am dying to watch this, 11/24 at 10PM--but I can't remember if we get the Sundance Channel or not....I'm thinking no. Man that Tom Ford is one sexy baish by the way (wink, llama).

Maybe I'll revise my wish list after this...

Why I Hate the Hotel du Crap by Brett Ratner

Ok so we all know that it's one of my absolute rock 'n' roll fantasies to stay at the Hotel du Cap. But maybe not so much anymore. This article made me giggle a little, having been also the victim of a Nazi-like French concierge at my last hotel stay in London, at a place not even on the same playing field as the Hotel du Cap.

Worlds are Colliding and I LURVE IT!

How did this escape my notice? Ricky Gervais in Christopher Guest's next film? Can one be asked to endure such bliss? And the title of the mock film, Home for Purim? My existence is complete. The only way this scenario could be improved is if Jennifer Coolidge gets to make out with Ricky; if they're eachother's love interests.

Glorious Discovery...

I am so stoked that you can get the London Review of Books Personal Ads online. Let's just start off with the first one this week, as an example:

"Passionate unicycling ornithologist seeks company of equally inspired stilt walker for hedgerow birdnesting. "

Genius! Can you imagine if they had personals at the Beach Reporter?

"If you've got boobs and like to drink beer at Sharkeez, hit me up!"

I gotta get outta here. It's true, the time has come.

Frogmore Stew

I made this recipe last night. It was pretty good despite the requisite screw-ups I always make whenever I cook anything (like not adding the spice when I was supposed to.) But it's SPICY. Like hella hot. I was proud of my dad, he still ate it anyway. Next time, if I make it, I'll significantly reduce the Old Bay (I'd never used that seasoning before, much less heard of it.) I have a feeling it'll be spicy just the same.

Early Stocking Stuffer Front Runner

Why am I finding all this cool stuff in London now that I'm not there? I don't know why but this really appeals to me. Muji's got Paris, Tokyo and New York too. I would love to have it as a memento of my trip. HINT. Except that one phallic looking thing. Even in London, I couldn't figure out what it was--except there it was all glass. I kept thinking, "What civil planning genius ok'ed that?" Maybe I'll just throw that piece out of the set when I get it.

Ok so you all know that I can't resist a research problem, so I decided to figure out what the hell that thing is. Answer? The Swiss Re Building. And I figured out who was to blame. Norman Foster. To paraphrase Room With a View (the movie): I blame you Norman, I blame you very much.

Move over all you Audi Wagons...

So I saw this Citroën in Wallpaper. And I think it's just about perfect for me. Too bad it's a concept car. But maybe by the time they get around to production I'll be able to afford it. And it even comes in my yellow!

Confessions on a Toll-Free line....

So the PR geniuses behind Madonna's new album due in exactly 2 weeks have set up a toll-free line where you can listen to other people's confessions. I am frightened by this more than by any Queen Mary's "Haunted Shipwreck" I was lucky enough to be out of town to avoid. Fear people, FEAR. BTW think about those two things what do they have in common? I'll give you a hint: Long Beach.

Jason Bateman Undergoes Throat Surgery

Just as long as Buster doesn't get his hand surgically put back on.

In related news, apparently some of the humor is lost if you watch Arrested Development in French.

Arrested was on really late at night in England too. Frankly, I'm surprised they showed it there, I don't think the Brits would find it humorous. Especially Wee Britain.

I had an epiphany the day before I left London...

I really REALLY really like things that are lemon flavored. While in London, I was introduced to both Marks & Spencer's Luscious Lemon Licious dessert and Innocent's Detox. Both super-lemony, both daily gotta haves on my sojurn. Ok, so I just discovered the smoothies literally the night before I left. Too bad, that. The link above has a recipie for them.

Lock and Load, Madge!

That conniving wench! We all swore her off after her last outing, American Life, didn't we? So how calculating was the unveiling of the cover of her latest album, not due out in the US for another 2 months? Damn her and her Abba samples! I just know I'm gonna buy this album, and I hate her for it.

Nerdy Addictions

Ok...so I have a confession. I'm a PBS addict. My main show that I'm into at the moment are reruns of Inspector Lynley. So I went to check what episode would be airing today, and I saw that another huge favorite of mine, Foyle's War is back for a third season. This is particularly poigniant, because my sister and I were lamenting yesterday how all of our favorite PBS series are over...like Sharpe and Hornblower (ok, so that was on A&E, but it's totally the PBS genre.), and what a shame that was, especially with Hornblower, because as my sister pointed out...there's so much more material to cover. He becomes an Admiral for pete's sake (she's reading the complete 12 book series.)!

All I have to say is what bliss is mine...they've even wrapped the 4th season this past spring. There's going to be plenty of Foyle for the time to come.

Bravo for BRAVO

Ok, I'm a fan. I realized the other day that if I had to make a list of shows that I always watch if they're on...they'd be....1. Project Runway, 2. Inside the Actor's Studio, and as of this second 3. that Kathy Griffin show. Good for them.

Buncha Bananas

So, my new food obsession are these Nesquik milkshake thingys. My favorite is Buncha Bananas, but they can be hard to find. I like the Caramel and Vanilla flavor, but prefer the Buncha. It's getting to the point where I'm having to have like 4 a week. And that's like a $1.70 a day habit! Diet Coke is way cheaper.

I AIN'T NO HOLLABACK GIRL!

Um, where to even begin? In an evening so fraught with expectation...and drunkards...Saturday night, I crossed another "to do" off my mental ROCK 'N' ROLL fantasy list. One thing I will say about my sisters and I out for a night on the town...Don't provoke us, because we will throw down. And we will make illegal video recordings and talk through them. And we will try to sneak down to the pit, only to chicken out and not even try, because of our fear of "Granny, the Usher."

Illegal video soon to follow.

August TV Doldrums/Purgatory

INXS: Rock Star

I had no plans to watch this show, but agreed to when my dad asked me if I wanted to watch it, because I'm sorry how freaking funny is that? Apparently he called my sister today to tell her he thinks that "the black guy" is going to win.

I just don't want to have to sit through Brooke Burke and Dave Navarro. But I will say from last night's episode, if you can get Satan's child Navarro to give you the "horns of rock" during the performance...you must be doing something right. And also, a thank you to Mr. Navarro for wearing glitter scarves in two consecutive episodes.

Who Eez.....?

I am totally fine with Pierce Brosnan remaining as Bond. However, it appears that the Bond producers aren't up to his demand of $40 Million a picture. In the last month alone, I've heard rumors that 3 different actors had been chosen to play Bond. So it's fun to speculate. Who would you choose as the next Bond?

Not of Our Tribe....

I got in an argument with my sister last night about Paul Walker being Mormon. Right...so's Steve Martin. For those non-mormon amongst you readers, it's kind of a cheesy social phenomenon that mormons claim all these celebrities belong to their religion, most likely because we're embarrassed by those that actually do, like Donnie and Marie.

When I was at BYU I had a friend that said that Paul Walker was Mormon because he'd come visit her roommate because they used to be dating. She was a California Mormon, so I didn't think that she would make such a ridiculous claim lightly, like some uninformed star struck girl from Idaho, or something, but I still had a really hard time believing it.

Well, apparently, Walker claims being raised a Mormon in an article in yesterday's USA Today, so I'll buy that for a dollar.

The question then becomes why all the hot ones leave the tribe...

Midnight at the O-a-sis!

46 days....I'm so happy I could cry.

What the Hell is wrong with me? (The second in an ongoing series...?)

There it was on the bookshelf, calling out to me....

Let's take a little look into the way I think, shall we? There are so many books out there that one ought to read, that one must develop skills of discrimination. Jane Stanton Hitchcock is where that discrimination goes out the window for me. Her books are the kind that you stay up all night...well 2 hours, to finish, laughing maniacally out loud along the way. Forget your bodice rippers, your Danielle Steeles, this is what you'll find me reading in the Airport! I am absolutely drawn to Ms. Hitchcock's tales of murder amongst the East Coast élite.

And while I will never understand what the fuss is about vacactioning in the Hamptons, death in the Hamptons is another matter. Maybe that's why I spent all last night into the wee hours watching the Dominick Dunne's Power, Privilege and Justice marathon on Court TV instead of the local fireworks displays.

Oddly enough, I didn't really have the stomach for Maneater by Brian Grazer's wife (although not a murder mystery, it deals with the West Coast "society"....I know that's not the right word, but what else would you call it?), maybe because I lived it, I don't need to read a book about it. Maybe I don't like it because it's the only book Paris Hilton ever read.

Light in the Piazza

I just saw this film on Friday afternoon (thank goodness for bosses being in Hawaii...) and was delighted. Set in Firenze and featuring a great performance by Olivia de Havilland, its concept was original and fresh. Who knew that a stage version of it won a grip o' Tony Awards this year? I could have done without George Hamilton as Fabrizio, the Italian suitor, but breaking my streak of never having seen him in anything was worth it.

I saw him in Palm Springs when I was in like 7th grade, but I didn't even know who he was, my aunt had to say he was a celeb. She wanted me to get his autograph, but no way was I approaching LEATHERFACE. And that guy from South Pacific plays Hamilton's dad, and I really want an Italian like that, let me just tell you.

Bragina

Anyone that knows me knows I'm a total slut for a good magazine. Especially one with a puckish photo essay. Much as W bugs me for sending me unsolicited magazines and then trying to bill me for them, I must say the oversized mag got me with their newest 60 page "story" on the couple of the moment.

I've got armhair too, just like LIZ!

To save money, I've been trying to come home to eat my lunch instead of eating out every day. The upshot of that is usually I turn the TV on while I'm eating...and usually I end up watching a movie...and sometimes I take a way longer lunch than I should just because I want to know what happens next. Well today was just such an occasion. TMC started Cat on a Hot Tin Roof just as I pulled up to the house.
I had seen the movie before, probably when I was a freshman, or maybe an 8th grader, back in the days of ye olde Paul Newman crush, a phase every woman goes through. This was one of those movies that when you watch as an adult there is just added meaning. I couldn't believe how GAY Newman's character was. I mean, he must have been, to not wanna smash out with La Liz in THAT SLIP. For that time period, it must have been a huge risk playing a character like that. And Burl Ives was such a pervy character!
But it made me giggle a little because it reminded me of Marnie, the movie I love for the simply risible fact that it tries to convince us that there is a woman on earth that doesn't want to have sex with Sean Connery. Please.
I gotta do something else for lunch. See where this always goes?

Teeny Weenie Mobiles

Will someone help me to understand what the thought process is behind getting lifts put into trucks? I guarantee 99.9% of the trucks on the road with lifts like that NEVER go off-roading. My brother once explained to me that by lifting the chassis, and adding stiffer shocks, it actually makes offroading worse, as in you're more likely to get stuck out in the middle of the lone-ass desert. And, uh, ahem...dudes, if you're thinking it'll impress the ladies...all it makes us think is that you're trying REALLY REALLY hard to overcompensate for things that are a lot smaller than your truck....I also guarantee that every man that sees you driving along in one of those teenie weenie mobiles thinks you're a dumbass jerk. So why do you do it? I sincerely want to know. When are you going to stop doing it? I REALLY REALLY want to know.

Hobnobbing

Saturday evening I went with my dad to this cocktail party held by Northern Trust, underwriters for the King Tut Exhibit at LACMA. Of course, the biggest hurdle is always what to wear. My bright idea was to rework a caftan that my 5'10" grandmother got from Greece into a neo-sixties mod cocktail dress. As my mom was out of town (thus the reason I was going to the party) and I'm not confident enough in my seamstress abilites...I roped Charity's mom into doing it. And then I had to work late, so that really didn't pan out.
And seeing as how I'm too fat to fit into any of my clothes...that meant scrounge through Jessie's stuff. I finally found a skirt/shirt combo I could deal with. It was presentable but not too flashy. First and formost, it was comfy. Then I began the process of getting ready. Considering that I haven't worn makeup since my brother's wedding in March, this was going to take some doing. I started getting ready at 3ish for a 5:45 departure time. I used to think the only people that took that long getting ready for anything were Drag Queens.
Well, at the party, I met one of my dad's clients, who brought along as her date a gentleman that my dad golfs with. Through the course of discussion throughout the night, I learned 1)Ms. Client was wearing these Prada shoes I'd seen splashed all over Vogue 2)She's got a townhouse in Chelsea in London, a house in PV, a flat in NYC, and a yacht in the Mediterranean...and a Jet, don't forget the Jet. And her date was an vaccuum cleaner salesman that had just divorced a Countess. That's just a whole other realm so beyond any reality I'll ever know.
The buffet was actually really good...even though I had kebab breath 3 hours later. Of the 4500 artifacts that Carter discovered in Tut's tomb, only 50 were in the exhibit. My favorite was the Dog Collar (predictable). And I really was pleasantly surprized by the little trinkets that were lapis lazuli colored. I love electric blue. I really am not that intrigued by that time period though. It just seems to bizzare and cruel for me to care.

Pauly Shore Update

Just in case anyone was wondering, I did walk around Video Outtakes for like 20 min with Pauly Shore is Dead in my hands before deciding that I didn't want to rent it. But I was totally predictable and got hmmm, a B&W classic from the 40s and a French gangster film.

This is my best friend Charity en route to her cousin's fashion show. I wish you could see the dress she's wearing, cause it's really snazzy. However, I would just like to point out that the plumage coming from her hat is actually gorilla hair. I am not making this up. It's vintage darling, that's what they did back then.

With Cover Art Like that, how could I NOT?

Punk songs covered by french girls to a bossa nova beat.

14" later....

I'm a Donor!

What the hell is wrong with me?

So, saw an ad for Pauly Shore's new show over the weekend. Why am I the only person in america that isn't totally and wholly annoyed by dude? I will even admit to having watched Son-in-Law multiple times. And I'll confess to an internal struggle--well internal in terms of the privacy of my netflix account--every few weeks I add Pauly Shore is Dead to my queue (that word again!) only to remove it a few weeks later, before it can get any closer to actually being delivered to my mail box. What's my problem? Afraid it's gonna be bad? Honey, I know it's going to be AWFUL...I just can't admit to myself that I'm that much of a Pauly fan. Renting it would be my tacit acknowledgment that Pauly still has some bizarre-ass pull on me, and damn it, he does.

Peter Pan's Fashion Pages!

Or, in other words, one hella creepy site. I try really hard not to cannibalize the cool stuff my buds link to on their sites, and instead provide links to their blogs for everyone to peruse, but this made an IMPRESSION on me that I still cannot shake. As Darlene, a frequent poster on Sherpa's site pointed out, dude is 50..that's right 3 years younger than my mom, and from the evidence here provided, I have no doubt that he's a child molester. High points to check out are the burgundy Little Lord Fontelroy, The blue dancer, bunny boi and the purple pixie. And the ultimate glitter star fairy. Aw hell, just look at all of em. But don't say I didn't warn you.

The Opposite of Sex

That was the first place I heard of Bananas Foster, a down home N'awlins specialty. Charity and I tried to find recipies, but they always involved rum. Well, I think this Ice Cream should be forbidden by the word of wisdom too, because the effect on the body is just as awful. Oh, but the way it tastes! I had an ex-something that used to say that Ice Cream calories don't count because all it's good for is filling in the cracks in your stomach. Circuitous logic, but for this stuff, any plausible excuse with which I can justify my behavior is good enough for me. I am such a cliche.

Jackson returns to Lakers as head coach

No Comment. Actually, I lied. Kobe Sucks.

Rob Morrow's Bookshelf

This picture would be so much better without the earrings.

Ok, am I ashamed to admit that every Friday night at 10 pm you will find me plunked infront of the TV watching Numbers, that awful show? Yes.

I actually don't give a crap about the plots, and am just watching it for Rob Morrow. I guess I'm a late comer to the fanclub. Never saw any of the Northern Exposure shows, although I guess I could check them out now on DVD. What keeps me from doing that though is John Corbett. He of Not-Sexy-Aidan fame. Except I will say that Aidan was HOT the second time he and Carrie got together, but I digress.

Can I be even more ashamed that I was surfing Oprah's website on such a deep and penetrating level, that I found Rob's bookshelf? I was impressed that the Da Vinci Code was not on it. Although Joseph Campbell is a tough call, cause it either means he's into lit crit, or it means he's trying to hide the fact that he's an inveterate Star Wars geek. The latter, not so sexy. What is it with this guy and Patrick Dempsey? I'm a total late comer to both, and we just can't get enough of them. Patric Dempsey even as a geeky nerdling in Can't Buy Me Love is DIVINE! But I will not watch that crappy Grey's Anatomy. Even though it landed Patrick on the cover of TV Guide as sexiest guy on TV. That I can agree with. Well, maybe in a tie with Rob Morrow.

Economics of Scale

LA Pillow

The first thing you learn in Econ 150 @ BYU is that it pays to specialize. That's why I'm so grateful that someone out there finally got a site up selling these retro kitschy travel pillows, so I don't have to make one. Ever since Kim Bassinger's character in LA Confidential had one on her bed, I've coveted one. But they're $136!!!! Pricey. And how's this for math....the California pillow apparently takes 40 hours to stitch by hand. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that means that someone's getting paid $3.40 an hour to stitch...and that's not even including materials or a profit margin. Something's fishy....I don't know if I quite believe that it's hand stitched. And you thought english majors couldn't do math.

And it's kinda cheezy to have an LA pillow living in LA. So maybe I can get it for my sister as a housewarming gift when she moves to Vegas. I could get the Ski Colorado one for myself. Or the France or Italy one. Again when I got mo papes.

Wow, this really is turning into baseball blog isn't it?

So Tuesday night was the season premiere of Queer Eye featuring The Boston Red Sox. I NEVER watch Queer Eye, but had to admit the concept was intriguing. So Jessie and I were in place for some good old down home mullets and homophobia. Man those Sox were uncomfortable. Carson had a few bon mots, but also some ideas that were a little too outré. Like Johnny Damon's stripe on stripe ensemble--Carson trying way too hard. Although I will grant that with a little grooming...I could see what Sherpa sees in Damon. Carson is just way more into pink than any human has a right to be. That's my dose of Queer Eye for the year.

I made this!

This is my gorgeous spring flower spray that I made for my brother's wedding with Apricot branches, tuberoses, varicolored roses and...hmmm...let's see what else... baby calla lillies, and whatever those tiny flowers were. Those were the most expensive of the lot. I have to say I'm very proud of it.

Belated birthday wishes...pimpin in pink!
